This item is definitely for outside entrances. The project site had a video stating that there was hardly any rubber smell. That is completely incorrect, our entrance way smells like to walked into a tire store. My wife has COPD and is on oxygen, she can not handle the smell from this product. We almost sent the product back, we have to close the front immediately to keep the rubber smell out
