      Solid and heaavy

      This is a well made solid steel top of the line tool. It is heavy for a good solid strike.It will take a little getting used to but does handle the toughest job. If you want a Seller you can trust to be reliable with top quality tools then I personally recommend this provider.

      On the fence...

      I am on the fence regarding this hammer. After using the rock hammer a few times in in the Sonoran Desert region, I notice the tip getting blunt. I was chipping away at a piece of sand stone, relatively soft, and after approximately 10 not so powerful blows I noticed the tip getting blunt. Not a good start. Everything else about the hammer is fine. The handle, the weight, the feel is all good. Stainless steel, but perhaps not the quality of steel or temper that can sustain long term use. I cannot help but wonder if spending a bit more money on an Estwing Pick Rock Hammer may have been the wiser move. Pros Good price free/rapid delivery Cons Not convinced the tool will sustain the type of use I need.

      Prospecting for gems

      I love this hammer. It has a good balanced weight. The handle is cushioned. The point is sharp. This geologist hammer is capable of breaking large rocks easily. I use mine for prospecting for both gems and gold and find it to indispensable.
