When I took a closer look I also noticed that the damascus pattern does not stem from the blade being forged of damascus steel, rather the pattern is etched into the blade. Very disappointing indeed. My Girlfirend however doesn't mind this which is why we are keeping it. But I would advise not to buy this if you are looking for real Damascus Steel.
