    Solidly built with the focus of a grand audio experience.

    This is an outstanding receiver for any a/v need. Built solidly and yes, it is heavy. The vast array of connectors are properly labeled and follow a logical flow for interfacing with external devices. The sound is up to you....for me the variations and ability to select the right audio theme is excellent. I have mine connected to a tape deck, cd, two computers, and a turntable. All of them reproduce through the receiver, to my ears, grand sound! This unit was bought after checking our a new Yamaha RX-A4A and the A6A. For the price, as used, the specs were awesome. I recommend.

    Impressive Build, Lacking Sound Quality

    This series is the best quality build i have seen from any brand. Remote is easy, perfect and backlit. On screen setup was very easy to program and understand. But then i spent days trying to get the sound right. It is a dull sound, no crisp vibrant clear tones like my $350 Sony i was replacing. Without a perfect sound i have no use for this receiver. I returned it. Yamaha, you can do better.

    Fantastic Unit

    The Surround Sound is awesome, scenes where there are gunfire it sounds like bullets are bouncing off the ceiling. Unit is manufactured in Malaysia, which in my view is WAY better than being made in china as far as quality & reliability.

    Go Yamaha!

    I broke my foot several weeks ago and needed a cheer me up, Yamaha did just that! Setup was easy and the sound is great still learning what all it can do. I had to order a new remote and it is awesome. Only gripe was the case was scratched up but I cant see it in the cabinet.
