Book was lost in the mail, but the seller offered a refund if it hadn’t shown up but a certain date. And they made good on that. This person is a good seller and I will keep them in mind in the future. I also recommend then.

  • A Well Written Story Of An Ordinary Man

I read this as my March book club selection. It's a well written story that flows nicely. This story isn't going to give you the warm fuzzies or make you jump for joy or even give a small smile. it is a an excellent portrait of a somewhat ordinary man who weathers the storms of life in a way that made me say, "he did okay in spite of it all." His happiness was fleeting, but he found solace in his books and his classes. I highly recommend it for both style and content.

  • Sad characters but a beautifully written book.

I heard about this book in a review on NPR. . . It is kind of depressing but still a good read. The writing is beautiful, the way the sentences are constructed. The reader can so easily visualize and feel everything that is being described. It would not be for everyone because it IS rather heavy -- definitely won't keep you laughing.

  • Stoner, a novel.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Stoner, about halfway into it I like to savor a good book, not "speed read". I would definitely recommend it as a classic, sort of "Dickensian " feel to it.

  • Brilliant writing. Very depressing

A masterpiece of writing but the most depressing book I have ever read. Read it with a drink in hand. But worth the trip.
