    This film, produced by Hallmark Theater in 2005, was very well done, of remarkably better quality than the shallow, kitschy holiday fodder they have regrettably been rolling out in cookie-cutter fashion in more recent years. The story is based on a novel of the same title by Anne Howard Creel, although the plot was condensed for its original intent as TV airing and ends somewhat differently than the book. Nonetheless, the acting is excellent, the cinematography superior to their current productions,and the story is both touching and thought provoking. A fine evening's entertainment. The dvd has fleeting blanks where the original TV commercials were removed and plays well. I

    Better than the book

    It is worthwhile to read the book before (or after) watching this movie. The book is more brutally accurate about the fate of "incarcerated" Japanese Americans. There is a happily ever after for the romantic leads, which is a must for me. Hallmark gave it a more tender but truthful look at the WW11 era, showing how women were treated, and the truth about encampments. It had some scary moments, but wonderful characters you cheer for, and will be relieved for at the end when there is the beautiful Hallmark Happily Ever After. 5+ stars.

    Sweet, old fashioned love story

    This is a beautiful, old fashioned love story. I really came to care for the characters, and hoped for it to end happily. I admit, I like happy endings, and this movie doesn't disappoint. There is no nudity, no violence, and no off color language. If that is your thing, you won't like this movie. But, if you like a sweet love story that you can watch with your family, this is the movie for you.
