It's got quite a large footprint, but it's secure once fully constructed.. I thought as my cats won't use the scratching slope I would leave it off, but soon realised it was essential for the unit to be stable/safe.. as described it was brand new... there were two screws missing but the supplier dispatched replacements promptly once I reported the issue.
