Synopsis
The Egyptians is a vibrant, accessible introduction to the people who lived along the Nile for almost thirty-five centuries. In this collection of essays, eleven internationally renowned Egyptologists present studies of ancient Egyptians arranged by social type-slaves, craftsmen, priests, bureaucrats, the pharaoh, peasants, and women, among others. These individual essays are filled with a wealth of historical detail that both informs and fascinates: we learn, for example, that Egyptian peasants could not afford burial (their corpses were abandoned on the desert fringe), and that it was the bureaucrats who made the Egyptian system tick (the pyramids could not have been built without them). Read consecutively, the portraits merge to create a larger picture of Egyptian culture, state, and society. The framework of the Egyptian state, in particular, is touched upon in each essay, describing the meticulous administration and well-organized hierarchical system that fostered centuries of stability and prosperity., The Egyptians is a vibrant, accessible introduction to the people who lived along the Nile for almost thirty-five centuries. Excellent seller. Package was delayed ( by bad weather) and then misplaced at PO( placed in wrong box #) but I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and I got my item today. This seller went the extra mile and I would highly recommend them and will shop here again. I also want to say the price for this complete hard to find item was way below most of the other listings. Condition was good as stated, and although I've only watched the first disc it's quality is good. Thank you!!

The cd was well packed and arrived safely. Unfortunately, the disc I received wasn't the original cd. It had been replaced by a CD-R. I immediately alerted World of Books USA regarding the problem and an officer of the company responded within 24 hours. They have provided a full refund of the purchase. Great customer service and communication. The case was resolved to my satisfaction. Will continue to do business with World of Books USA. Thanks.

I received my items in great condition. The books were packed really well and survived the shipping process well. The books appeared described by the seller. Excellent service by the seller, who responded quickly to an inquiry that was more of an issue with the current state of USPS. Excellent transaction with the seller overall!
