Synopsis
This is the story, in her own words, of Juliet, a young Englishwoman, and her life in India. A few short weeks after completing her college training in England as a teacher of art and crafts, she had her 21st birthday on August 10, 1963 and a week later married a young clergyman, Dan O'Connor. Three weeks later, they set sail for India, where they made their home, raised a family and lived until 1972. With the end of the British Raj and the coming of Indian independence in 1947, it was unusual for people from the United Kingdom to settle for any length of time in India. A new cohort of experts of one sort and another did appear, but rarely stayed for more than months at a time. Only a very few continued to come and live in India, and most of these were missionaries. Among them were Juliet and Dan, recruited for work in Delhi, the capital. Both would be teachers, Juliet at Queen Mary's School and Dan at St. Stephen's College in the University of Delhi., This is the story, in her own words, of Juliet, a young Englishwoman, and her life in India. - n***d (49)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseExcellent seller. Package was delayed ( by bad weather) and then misplaced at PO( placed in wrong box #) but I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and I got my item today. This seller went the extra mile and I would highly recommend them and will shop here again. I also want to say the price for this complete hard to find item was way below most of the other listings. Condition was good as stated, and although I've only watched the first disc it's quality is good. - 6***t (479)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchasePurchasing form this company can at times be frustrating due to items never arriving, very low shipping time and the inability to track the items. But I gave them another chance and purchased many maps and books over the past few months and have received all of them. Last year, it was hit and miss. All items were in the condition as described. Packaging is minimal. The only downside is extremely slow shipping. I rate them a C+. Nothing to gloat about but eventually you will get what you wanted.
