Using this speedometer in a car
These are designed for use in a boat. I am using mine as a speedometer in a car. In a boat, where instantaneous readings are not needed, this is perfect. It is very accurate at a sustained speed, but it lags during acceleration or deceleration, by up to 5 seconds. No problem for me, since I am merely trying to make sure I'm not holding an illegal cruising speed. However, for those who want to evaluate 0-60 runs (the type of accuracy one would expect in a car speedometer), they would want to know before installation about this characteristic. Also, the mounting and wiring studs on the back-side of the unit are quite long, and most likely will require cutting to shorten them, especially to protect against short circuits. Speedometer works well
no issues, takes a couple minutes to find satellite, but then works just fine. I am using it on a micro-car which had a very unreliable speedometer drive. Now I know exactly how fast I am going.

GPS accuracy and traditional looks
Got an older boat needing yet another water pickup for your old-tech speedometer? That was my situation and I was glad to see that Faria now offered an old-school look on new-school technology. You still get a traditional pointer but the info is GPS accurate. I did a whole new Faria Euro Black gauge array on my 1988 Ebbtide boat. Very nice!
