    Good Lens Cap

    This lens cap works well and is virtually identical to the original Nikon lens cap. The main difference being that this one can utilize a tether to keep it attached to the lens. The tether may have seemed like a good idea to the designer, but no one is going to go around with a lens cap dangling from there DSLR, unless they want to look like a total dork. Better to just buy another one of these when you lose it.

    The Replacements

    I am a notorious lens cap loser. Being a sports photographer where speed matters, changing lenses or cameras is a constant necessity. This cap goes on easy and stays on when needed. It is a great replacement for the original.

    After market (?) lens cap appears to be OK

    Based on its price ($ 2) this 77mm lens cap must be an after market knock off. It is identical in most respects to the original Nikon cap right down to the product markings and the prominent logo. The only thing I am suspicious of, however, is that it may not have enough threads to attach securely on the liens. I knocked it off at first use and resolved to take more care in future, which isn't a bad thing.
