        Great basic compass

        From learning basic orienteering in the Boy Scouts through 30 years of backpacking on 3 continents, I've found few things as essential for overland navigation as a good, local map and a solid, basic compass. This is a terrific model for the novice or expert alike. It is light, rugged, and reliable, with all of the basic features necessary for map and compass navigation, as well as a few helpful extras. Brunton has a long tradition of great products, and this is one that doesn't break the bank.

        Best compass for the price.

        This is by far the best compass I could find under $80. It is very accurate and durable, and it's liquid free so it will never freeze in cold conditions.
