Without the spout it's a little audible but nothing too bad, it does work without it on. Be careful with the spout if you have pets that wear collars indoors, my families cat got his caught on it while testing it out and he flung the whole pump assembly across the floor when it scared him 😭. Luckily I actually bought this for my rabbit, he is in love with it and has no problem with the spout.
