My expectation was that the *internal* diameter of the cap would be 58mm which would allow it to fit over my lens while focusing. It turns out the *external* diameter is 58mm so the bahtinov cap does not actually fit onto the lens. Condition: good. Value: good. Appearance: satisfactory

Tip: I orderd one 4mm larger than my lens hood, and stuck some 2mm thick felt pads inside the mask that don't scratch the hood and make for a secure fit..... a great piece of kit for Astrophotography.
