    Will not remove carbon deposits

    I bought this to clean up some aluminum pistons for an overhaul. I was impressed by a youtube video showing someone soaking their pistons in this and they came out shiny and clean. I pre-cleaned mine by removing the thick deposits of carbon expecting the cleaner to do the rest. I tried soaking for one hour, then 4 hours and finally overnight but the cleaner did almost nothing. Even the areas with only a light coat of carbon were still just as they were before. Maybe the cleaner is not designed to remove carbon, only carburetor deposits which would be a different material, but it does say "carburetor and parts cleaner". Definitely not recommended for carbon stains and deposits.
