The sealing "rod" is actually a stiff piece of plastic... much like the plastic sheath that covers a microplane. Its very difficult to slide it over/across the top of the bags to close the seal. I'm going to try food grade silicone spray to see it that fixes the almost impossible slide to close feature. You can slide it about halfway along the top before it becomes stuck.
