In this comedic opera by Pietro Mascagni, a rich landowner, Fritz Kobus (Jose Bros) declares himself a permanent bachelor, but his rabbi friend David (Allessandro Paliaga) counters with a bet that Fritz will marry within a year. Failing to rise to David's challenge, Fritz soon finds himself in love with his tenant's daughter, Suzel (Dimitra Theodossiou), who is betrothed to another!
