The right patina can look great on an old truck. Those beautiful signs of age help tell the story of a lifetime of labor. And when combined with upgraded modern mechanical components, a truck like the ’63 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside pickup now available on eBay provides the best in drivability and a rugged style.
The Chevy long-bed Fleetside is mostly original on the outside. The body is straight. However, there are a couple of minor dings and minimal rust in familiar places like the lower front fenders. But the seller says those spots haven’t grown in the 10 years. That’s a testimony to the quality and thickness of the steel used more than a half-century ago.
The truck is currently wearing the livery of Mr. Classik Motorsports, the restoration shop where it has been a work truck for the past decade. (Mr. Classik, the seller, is also offering this sweet 1968 Vespa scooter.)
Upgrades Galore
Lift the hood of the ’63 Chevy truck to reveal an immaculate and detailed engine compartment. The tidiness is a sharp contrast to the truck’s rustic exterior.
The original small-block V-8 is long gone. A 402-cubic-inch, big-block Chevrolet V-8 is in its place. A heavy-duty 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission supports the powerful engine.
Numerous performance upgrades include:
- Moroso 7-quart oil pan
- Z28 dual-snorkel air cleaner
- Comp Cams Mutha Thumpr cam
- Holley Dominator intake manifold
- Hooker headers
- 2.5-inch dual exhaust
- Flowmaster Delta Flow mufflers
- MSD electronic ignition
- Fast EZ-EFI electronic fuel injection
Meanwhile, the suspension was lowered and rebuilt with a Classic Performance Products drop kit. There’s a power front-disc brake conversion with a dual master cylinder and Energy Suspension components. Newer lower-profile tires mounted on 22-inch red-painted steel wheels complete the look.
Stylish Blend of Old and New
The interior presents a combination of original pieces and newer components. The doors and dash are wearing what appears to be the original tan and white paint scheme. The seat is a relatively new red bench—equipped with performance seat belts.
The shop upgraded the factory dash cluster with Dakota Digital instruments. The original radio is history, but the owner plans to install a new audio system in preparation for the sale. The 32-inch Lokar shifter sprouting from a bare floor is a nice touch.
The truck is equipped with the custom trim package from the factory. That package features chrome bumpers and a bright anodized grille in place of the white-painted units on base trucks.
The truck also sports a rare wraparound windshield from the last year it was offered on Chevy trucks. Dark tinting on the windshield completes the vibe of this stylish, performance-oriented ’63 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside pickup.
