This Cadillac CT6-V Is Rarer Than a Lamborghini Countach

American  /   /  By Jim Travers

The Cadillac CT6-V is guaranteed to be a future classic. Produced for only two years, it’s one of the last American luxury sedans equipped with a V-8 engine. One of these rare high-performance machines is currently available on eBay at an unexpectedly good price.

This stunning 2019 example is one of just 875 CT6-V models produced in the first model year. Fewer than 1,500 were built in total. To put that number in perspective, Lamborghini built more examples of the legendary Countach. Loaded with features and showing just over 15,000 miles, this red Caddy looks like a brand-new car in the listing photos.

Soaring on Blackwing Power

Conceived as the high-performance variant of Cadillac’s flagship CT6 sedan, the V package brought a host of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. Chief among these is the 4.2-liter V-8 engine, a twin-turbocharged and intercooled monster dubbed Blackwing. Designed exclusively for the CT6-V, this dual-overhead-cam engine cranks out 550 horsepower and a whopping 640 pound-feet of torque.

Cadillac engineered the CT6-V to compete with the best that Mercedes-AMG and BMW M could offer. Each Blackwing engine was hand-assembled at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Ky. Each engine bears the signature of one of six specially selected assemblers, and each engine was said to cost $20,000 to build. A 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive helped the Cadillac CT6-V sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

Not Just a Drag Racer

Carbon fiber center console

Inside, you’ll find a stylish and sporty cabin with carbon-fiber accents on the dash, doors, steering wheel, and console. Dual moonroofs lend an airy feel, while a 34-speaker Bose car audio system keeps everyone entertained. As the flagship of the Cadillac lineup for 2019, the CT6-V is loaded with high-tech features, including a configurable TFT instrument panel, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 360-degree camera.

There’s just one drawback to this Cadillac CT6-V. The Michigan dealer offering the car says it was involved in a minor impact, and the car now has a Michigan rebuilt title. According to the dealer, only the front bumper and hood were replaced, with no mention of structural damage.
