eBay Listing: 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible

Many would agree that Mustangs built from 1967 to 1968 have something about them that makes them more desirable over other Mustang models. It might be due to the fact that big block engines started to find their way under the hoods of 1967-68 Mustangs. Or maybe it was the styling that took what was already good from their ‘1964 and a half’ to1966 predecessors and made it great. You could even say it was Carroll Shelby’s touch of gold or genius that made the Mustang less of a “secretary’s car” and into a “world shaker.”

Whatever the reason for that ‘desirability factor,’ something about the 1967-68 models is echoed in nearly every ‘retro’ Mustang from 2005-2014. We’d argue that wasn’t a bad thing. You might even say one of the strong points of the modern Mustangs is that they have a heritage of success to draw upon. With 50 years gone by though, we couldn’t help but wonder with all the modified Mustangs out there, are there still original looking survivor 1967-1968 Mustangs, for sale? Cars that have not been modified into “Bullitt,” or “Eleanor,” or even “GT” clones.

Is there a market for a seemingly original looking car with relatively original engine like a 289 V8 or something even smaller like an inline 6-cylinder car? As luck would have it, this pale springtime yellow 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible went up for sale recently, and it was exactly what we are describing. Maybe not a 100% original car, but 100% of what originality looks and feels like in a modern day restoration that was well done. Its stock color combination and style of engine was retained. This car gives reverence to the past that is a good thing. It is a stallion that stands proudly up to the test of time.

For many people that elusive mythical creature in the Mustang world is not an “Eleanor” clone, but a quality period correct car that is either original, or freshly restored in ‘as new’ condition. Perhaps people seek out cars like this to remind them of a car from their youth. Originality can be one of the most obscure characteristics within the Mustang community especially with 50 years passing by. People personalize cars they love, which is why finding original 1967-1968 Mustangs that haven’t rotted away, or been wrecked, or been extremely customized is a bit of a feat in and of itself. This car is a reminder to some of days gone by, of classic style, and of the everyday Mustangs that might not have been Detroit muscle powerhouses, but left a lasting impact and carried us onward in the daily commute like a trusty steed should.
