From Motor Plow to Lawn Tractors
The Gravely company’s rich history started in 1916 when founder Benjamin Franklin Gravely patented his “Motor Plow,” a walk-behind plow powered by an Indian motorcycle engine instead of a horse. Gravely’s next innovation was a compact walk-behind tractor for lawn maintenance and garden work.

The tractors evolved into one- and two-wheeled machines that accommodated nearly 40 attachments for jobs from cultivating fields to plowing snow. Gravely’s company evolved, too. During Studebaker-Packard ownership in the 1960s, Gravely introduced its first lawn tractor.
Ariens Company purchased Gravely in 1982. It remains AriensCo’s commercial lawn division. Gravely entered the UTV market in 2014 with the Atlas JSV. It joined several other equipment manufacturers, including John Deere, Kubota, and Cub Cadet, which leveraged their experience in outdoor power equipment to join the growing UTV/side-by-side segment.

Gravely’s Atlas JSV is a workhorse UTV for ranchers, tradespeople, maintenance workers, and even homeowners. It is capable of hauling heavy payloads, carrying up to three passengers, plowing snow, and making short work out of everyday jobs.

The 2017 Atlas JSV 3000 currently for sale on eBay is powered by a 570-cc, electronically fuel-injected Polaris Aires four-stroke gasoline engine that puts out 40 horsepower. The JSV has a top speed of around 35 mph in high gear.
The EFI system makes for easy starts even in cold weather. A Polaris continuously variable transmission (CVT) sends power to the ground via an active AWD system that engages when extra traction is needed.
Towing capacity is an impressive 2,500 pounds with the included heavy-duty hitch. That makes the Atlas JSV 3000 ideal for pulling a trailer or log splitters, portable generators, welders, and other portable task-specific tools. The standard electric-lift cargo bed is rated at 1,250 pounds to handle all kinds of cargo-hauling tasks.
