This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 Meets LeMans Specs

The Austin-Healey 100 was the first of the “big” Healeys. The model—named for its ability to reach 100 miles per hour—was produced from 1953 to1956.

The 1956 Austin-Healey 100 now available on eBay is an exceptional example. It went through a concourse-quality restoration in 1991. And since that time, it received loving care from its long-term single owner.

Restored to 100M LeMans Racing Specs

The four-cylinder Austin-Healey 100 was produced in smaller numbers than the similar and more common six-cylinder Healey 3000 that followed. The 3000 stayed in production until 1967.

During the restoration of the Austin-Healey 100 on eBay, its builders painstakingly converted it to 100M LeMans racing specification. That means it’s nearly identical to the limited-production 100M factory racing cars of the day.

100M-only details fitted to the car include:

Those details earned the car a place in the 100M Registry. Want to see the transformation? Easy. The seller offers more than 25 hours of video documenting the restoration.

The restoration included stripping the car to bare metal before getting refinished in its gleaming and correct red and black two-tone paint. The numbers-matching 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine fires right up and runs smoothly. The powertrain mates to a four-speed manual transmission to produce plenty of power and a satisfying sound.

First-Place Show Winner

Since the restoration, the car received multiple awards, including a First Place at the Austin Healey Concours.

The redone interior features black bucket seats with contrasting red piping and black carpets and door panels. The original factory gauges are supplemented with additional instrumentation under the dash. They are mounted on a custom panel finished to match the interior. A wood-rimmed steering wheel completes the authentic look.

The sale includes a soft top and removable side windows. The builders fitted the chrome wire wheels with new tires in preparation for the sale, and the engine has been freshly tuned up.

This 1956 Austin-Healey 100, priced at $85,000, is an outstanding example of a historic and gorgeous sports car. It needs nothing more than its next loving owner.
