  • ehhhh

it is capable of decent photos with a good lens; very easy to operate; image quality not equal to a current $300 point and shoot, but you get more flexibility...at least that is what I keep telling myself. With the optional battery grip, and a large capacity card you can shoot all day.

  • Kodak Sensor

She aint exactly pretty, she aint exactly small, but baby that Kodak sensor she got it al! YES, Kodak CCD sensor made in Rochester, NY! (the Oly body assembled in China). Listen up, this sensor looks most like true film. Almost the Holy Grail. A 16 year old camera with a mere 8 MP dropped my jaw. The rig itself is decent---do the research---but the Kodak sensor is got the magic. Original price for the Evolt 300 (2004) was a whopping $1.000 smackers. Copy I got here $90.00 with all original box, etc. Mint, Also bought the 14-42 (not 14-45) better zoom for cheap. Here a pic---

  • Fantastic Camera Just Needed a Battery

Silly people have abandoned perfectly good mirrorless cameras because the micro 4/3 format has become more fashonable. They do not realize that micro cameras have micro sensors and produce shaky results. I used one of the Olympus cameras in photography class in college but could not justify the cost for my personal use. Someone offered the lens and camera seperately but with no battery, which is hard to find and expensive except on eBay. The battery came with a charger, auto charger cord, lens cleaner, and mini tripod so I was able to revive the camera I really wanted at a comparatively low cost. Now all I need is a vacation to use the admittedly bulky camera and lens.

  • Olympus Evolt E-300 Camera

I brought the camera as a repair project, once I rec'd it I purchased charger and battery. The Battery was install and firmware updates were performed and camera worked great. I use it now for my outdoor pictures, because it has a great reputation for weather resistance and durability. I love the camera and consider it a great purchase.

  • An unique DSLR with a body style of a rangefinder

It's a very unique DSLR. It does not have pentaprism, but Porro mirrors, so there is no bump on the top of the camera, the viewfinder is located like on a rangefinder. It has a 8 Mpix Kodak CCD sensor, which have very pleasing colour rendering, looks like classic film cameras. If you crank up the ISO over 400, the results in RAW will have more film like, very hard but not disturbing grain will you get. The 14-54mm F2.8-3.5 lens is a very good standard zoom lens, it is very sharp, it has crisp colours, nice background blur because of the relatively fast apertures. As with a 28-108mm FF equivalent focal lenght it covers 90% of what a person should need while taking photos. There are only 3 AF points, somtimes it is struggling to focus correctly, however the center AF point is the most accurate of them, it is recomended to use only that for focusing. It has only 3 fps continuous shooting rate, and the buffer fills up only after a few (3-5) photos, where it is slowing down under 1 fps. But the good thing is it can handle CF cards up to 16GB, so it is hard to run out of space. The battery life is very good too, I don't have brand new batteries, but they last over 300 photos, and reviewing the pictures did not use much battery, as the screen is very small, only 1.8". All in all, it is a very usable camera - despite it's age -, very good for portraits, and for landscape photographing, where it's film like colours can shine.
