Great entry-level Canon DSLR that can still deliver great photos.
The XS was the real beginning of the generation of cameras still being built by Canon, progressing from the XS to the T1i, on through the T3, the T5, and the T5i. They all work with the same basic controls and settings, so if you learn to use the XS, you can then use any of the newer and much more expensive Canon DSLR's and already know what to expect and what you're doing. With only a 10.1 MP CMOS sensor, compared to the newer cameras having 18 MP sensors or even 22 if you go for the very high-end models, the image quality naturally isn't quite as good, but you still get tack-sharp photos that are much better than the human eye is capable of taking issue with. Even 10.1 is nothing to sneeze at, and you can print out up to 11x16" prints with this camera before you'll start to get any loss of sharpness or quality, and honestly, how many of us actually print photos larger than that? Bang-for-buck, find a clean used XS with a reasonably low shutter count and enjoy, this is the introduction to the entire modern Canon EOS series of cameras - and, being built in Japan in Canon's old factory, the build quality on the XS is actually much better than it is on the "basic" T3 and T5 cameras which are mass-produced in Taiwan.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

I have a mark III and still really enjoy this camera, great value, and easy walk around camera for when I don't need to carry around a brick on my neck. I use the Mark III for events and its a little bulky to use on a daily basis, also doesn't have flash included. So this item is a great all-in one compact product with flash.
