Alkalines not brought up to maximum charge values

The LED display on the unit is a valuable function to alert you when charging is complete. However it is important to note that the batteries charged (as indicated by the screen), were never brought up to the maximum charge of a new battery...........That being said, I believe that that would be the case of any brand of charger designed exclusively for alkaline batteries............The unit however does work well and is easy to use.

  • Top critical review

    Poor design charger.

This charger will not charge low voltage batteries. I must use my Ni/Metal Charger from Walmart which I purchased 10 year ago to kick start a battery, Ni/Cad & Ni/Metal can go to zero volts setting on the shelf and are still good when charge with their respective chargers. When Lithium batteries do that you may not bring them back. I had most lithium batteries recovered back just by putting them in my MI/Metal charge first then into this charger, that worked. The negative spring loader in my charger is nearly junk. You have to move it back with pliers to place a battery into it. Just a poor design.

  • Decent product with good value and features

The battery charger comes exactly as pictured, and seems to work well. The charge level it detects in alkaline batteries seems to be a little bit over protective, not wanting to charge batteries that still have a decent charge in them, and the alkaline setting provides a very low current, only 130 milliamps, but that makes for a charger that is on the safer side. My only gripe is that it is not UL certified like most consumer electronics in North America. Overall, I think that this charger is worth at least the $30 it cost to buy, if not more.

  • New Lease of Life for Alkaline Batteries

Good at breathing life back into alkaline batteries. Condemns some NiMH batteries too easily, and sometimes overcharges NiMH batteries (they get rather hot). Overall, not quite as good as the old Saitek alkaline/NiCd charger (NiCd setting on the Saitek is also good for NiMH batteries), but much more readily available and cheaper than the Saitek.

  • Best Ever Household Battery Charger

I've had household battery chargers for 3 decades but it seems all the new ones don't have a shutoff feature when the battery gets to full charge. This causes the batteries to leak and the top of my dryer is evidence of the leakage! I finally threw this last one in the trash because if I didn't set an alarm for 2-3 hours when I put in batteries to charge they were going to get too much "juice", then leak and further ruin my dryer. Then, I found this batter charger sold by Digi-battery. What a great model this is. It has a TON of features.....it shuts off when the batteries are at full charge, it's easy to read, it has a gauge to show you what level the charging is at, its easy to put batteries in and take out, it's compact and doesn't need lots of room (top of my dryer works just fine), and lets you know when the battery is bad. I just love this battery charger as it saves lots of money on new batteries, but keep in mind household batteries only will charge so many times before they have to be recycled. However, even one or two charges saves money. If I had any sense I would have bought two......lol.

  • Wish it charged ALL batteries that NEED it!

This battery charger doesn't charge like the Renu-It deluxe product. This charger will not revitalize batteries that need charging in the red zone on the battery testers. I have re-charged batteries that this product says is "bad" & most people would toss.

  • It works pretty well for the price.

(I have recharged a lot of Duracell Alkaline batteries of the AA and D cell type. It seem that they don't keep a charge as long as original batteries. I believe they are being charged to 1.2 Volts instead of 1.5+ volts as they come from the store. The 9 volt batteries get charged to 9.5 volts. Of all of the smaller batteries charged, none registered above 1.4 volts after charging. Aren't AA and AAA and C and D batteries supposed to be charged to 1.5+ volts? Rechargeable batteries that I put on this charger charged to 1.2 volts, which is expected.I am happy with that. I am happy with the 9 volt recharge as well. Not so with the smaller batteries.

  • Regular charger that does not excel at what it should do

I bought it for the sole purpose of reusing 9v alkaline batteries, which it does not do effectively. I tried it with AAs, AAAs, everready, duracell, energizer, ect. trying to charge them enough to use back in smoke detectors, metal detectors, remotes, and the same result every time is that the low power alert comes on every time or the item powers down. For $30 the FC999 was an interesting experiment that failed.

  • Good home charger

A good versitile charger covers the bases. I use up a lot of batteriers when I go hunting of different sizes and this does them all. Has just taken 2 days to recharge after a trip. Wondering if anyone is likely to make a smaller more portable model with USB lead so that you can charge batteries from a power bank when in the bush??

  • Nice unit

Nice to charge all batteries. Works real good. Would be nice if it would automatically change types of battery’s automatically without having to switch to each type of battery being charged. This unit is a little expensive, but a good buy for what it does.
