SynopsisRead the timeless classic about the beloved Anne Shirley, a red-haired orphan with a fiery spirit, behind the hit Netflix series Anne with an E --now celebrating a hundred years of this children's favorite. " [Anne is] the dearest and most lovable child in fiction since the immortal Alice. " --Mark Twain Eleven-year-old Anne Shirley has never known a real home. Since her parents' deaths, she's bounced around to foster homes and orphanages. When she is sent by mistake to live with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert at the snug white farmhouse called Green Gables, she wants to stay forever. But Anne is not the sturdy boy Matthew and Marilla were expecting. She's a talkative redheaded girl with a fierce temper, who tumbles into one scrape after another. Anne is not like anybody else; she is a girl with an enormous imagination and boundless passion. All she's ever wanted is to belong somewhere. And the longer she stays at Green Gables, the harder it is for anyone to imagine life without her. This special Collector's Edition includes the original, unabridged text, a specially commissioned biography of L.M. She's a mischievous, talkative redheaded girl with a fierce temper, who tumbles into one scrape after another. Anne is not like anybody else, the Cuthberts agree; she is special, a girl with an enormous imagination. All she's ever wanted is to belong somewhere. And the longer she stays at Green Gables, the harder it is for anyone to imagine life without her. " Anne is] the dearest and most lovable child in fiction since the immortal Alice. "-Mark Twain, As soon as Anne Shirley arrived at the snug, white farmhouse called Green Gables, she knew she wanted to stay forever...but would the Cuthberts send her back to the orphanage? Anne knows she's not what they expected--a skinny girl with decidedly red hair and a temper to match. If only she could convince them to let her stay, she'd try very hard not to keep rushing headlong into scrapes or blurt out the very first thing she had to say. Anne was not like anybody else, everyone at Green Gables agreed; she was special--a girl with an enormous imagination. This orphan girl dreamed of the day when she could call herself Anne of Green Gables. From the Paperback edition.

  • Great books, great price, great condition

When I tell people I'm reading this series for the first time they can't believe it...And after reading the first book, neither can I! Our world is full of garbage these days. The most innocent of premises is ruined by tmi and/or downright unnecessary filth. These books are a breath of fresh air. A GREAT read that doesn't need sex and scandal to draw the reader in. If LM Montgomery were alive I'd high five her because she's amazing. Authors and TV/movie writers could learn something from her-- violence, crude language and humor, and sex aren't needed to make something compelling.

  • For all ages.

After reading the other reviews I noticed that many said it was for young ages. Although this is true. As a sixty nine year old pilot and motorcycle driving male I must encourage older readers to read this classic. Our time in history really needs to grasp what we have left behind. Needless to say, I love the book.

  • Not worth the money !

This is a very small paper back book that is not even big enough to read. The price for this flimsy book is higher than buying it in a book store. It is definitely NOT a collectors edition . There are no pictures and it is nothing more than a cheap paper-book.
