NotesTex Ritter started out on broadway in the 1930s and became known first for his deep, golden voice and his wonderful way with western songs. He went on to star in western movies in Hollywood as a silver screen cowboy whilst enjoying both country and also western hits on record. He was an authority on western lore and music so his career as a singer and speaker continued long after the era of the Hollywood cowboys. His celebrated singing of "High Noon" (Do Not Forsake Me)" on the western film of the same name has become an all-time favourite. Three different versions are included here. This set presents four complete LPs from that period - three in stereo - plus some bonus tracks from his 1940s recordings. Most tracks here have been out of print for many years and never released on CD. Now you can hear stereo versions of many of his hits including "Blood On The Saddle", "High Noon", "Jealous Heart", "Have I Stayed Away Too Long" and "There's A New Moon Over My Shoulder". Includes Tex's complete much sought after but rare album with Orchestra Leader Stan Kenton in beautiful, clear stereo. Also includes some of Tex's so-called "Talking songs" such as "The Face On The Barroom Floor" and "Deck Of Cards". Liner notes by country music writer and broadcaster Paul Hazell
