  • Spielberg's love letter to films and his family!

The Fabelmans is a fictionalized movie about Steven Spielberg and his family. In this movie, Spielberg has Gabriel LaBelle playing Sammy Fabelman,i.e., Spielberg. At a young age, his parents, played by Paul Dano and Michelle Williams, take Sammy to see "The Greatest Show on Earth!", A Cecil B. DeMIlle movie and young Sammy is smitten with the idea of movie making. When he is gifted with a movie camera, the boy begins his film-making career by trying to replicate the train crash from the movie. As he gets older, he uses his friend to make westerns and even a war movie, that shocks the neighborhood by its realism and blood! His mother, Mitzi, harbors a secret. She is having an affair with a friend, Ben, played by Seth Rogen. The family movies to Arizona to Sammy's unhappiness. He wants to go to Hollywood to make movies! What I liked about this love letter to film making is it stays with Sammy and his family as a young man.

  • I thought this movie dragged on and on. I was disappointed, but that's just the way it goes.

    Worked fine.
