I have owned a copy of this book since its release. I have had to replace it twice because I have literally worn out the binding. I just bought this copy for my sister who competes in Highland Games. While a bit dated (it was first released in the early '90's I believe, and before sport's supplementation science hadn't discovered things like the sports advantages of creatine, all of the knowledge that this book does contain is simply vital to any serious athlete. I used this book as my bible and with it's help competed in my first marathon in '96 completing that race in the top 10 (3rd place in my age category). I am now a competitive fencer and Highland Games athlete. In a sea of useless sports nutrition books, and "no kidding" or "same old, same old" advice books, this is one that every serious athlete should have on the shelf.
