The Cobra XRS 9470 radar detector, which can boast a compact size and a refined style, scans the local area as you drive down the road and can identify the active radar/laser signals in the area. The detector can detect signals in all three radar bands, plus the Ku band which is an approved frequency that is used in parts of Europe and Asia. The Digital Signal Strength Meter can give your relative proximity to the target. It can also detect LIDAR, or Light Detection And Ranging, which must have a clear line of sight to its target vehicle throughout the entire measurement interval. The detector gives a warning for emergency vehicles, road hazards, and trains with different tones for each of these safety alerts. The Cobra XRS 9470 radar detector can provides all around coverage with its Laser Eye feature that can provide 360 degree detection of radar signals coming from in front of and behind your vehicle. You can combine Laser Eye and Xtreme Range Superheterodyne technology, which employs super fast sweep circuitry that can provide extra detection range and advanced warning radar gun detection, and you can get a reliable radar detector that can let you drive your vehicle with with peace of mind. Additional features can help detect even the most advanced radar. The Instant-On Ready feature can detect radar guns with instant-on, or very fast, speed monitoring capabilities while the Pop Detection feature can detect the latest super fast instant-on single pulse radar guns. City Mode can delay all X band audio alerts until the signal strength reaches Level 3 so you don’t get false alerts from sources such as microwave towers and automatic door openers. IntelliMute can virtually eliminate false audio alerts by sensing engine RPMs. When IntelliMute Pro is turned on, and engine RPMs are below the IntelliMute activation point, the detector’s radar detection circuits are turned off to prevent detection by radar detector-detectors. This feature is intended for use at slower speeds by experienced users only. In addition, VG2 technology can provide complete immunity to VG-2 radar detector-detectors that are used by the police to spot illicit detectors while Spectre Alert technology can provide complete immunity to Spectre I radar detector-detectors. Spectre Alert I/IV+ gives an alert when your car is under surveillance of Spectre I/IV+ radar detector-detectors. You can choose from four settings for brightness of the display, and you can set the detector to sound alerts with either a voice or a tone. Voice Alert can provide clear pronunciation of the signal being detected so you can keep your eyes on the road. Buttons on the Cobra radar detector may have multiple functions. All settings that you’ve chosen will be stored in memory when the power is turned off and recalled when the power is turned back on. The radar/laser detector can easily mount on a windshield or dashboard and an auxiliary audio jack can provide an external speaker connection that can be used in environments with high background noise levels. When an external speaker is used, the internal speaker is disconnected. The Cobra radar detector comes with a suction cup mount windshield bracket kit, coiled power cord, and owners manual and includes a 1 year warranty. I rated th product too soon. I have other Cobras before and this one does not seem to be as good. It gives off a lot of false detections. At times it detects trains and I not even near a train. Works great, but...
It seems to work great. The problem I have is that it constantly goes off in the city. Every stop light, speed signal, industrial area sets it off. I have started to unplug it in the city, but I mainly wanted it for the highway which does not have the same issues. Best one I've ever bought!!!
I have had this for a week now and of the 20 times (Yes, I kept track to write this review) only ONCE did it throw me false code. Out of the 6 I've had this is the best one yet. When you're driving around town and make sure to put it in CITY mode so it doesn't give false codes. The only time I got a false code was when I had HIGHWAY mode on in town. When you're on highway and long stretches of road with nothing but fields and rest stops then have it in HIGHWAY mode. It tells you how in the instructions. I wonder...
if the officers on the roads don't have any radar or laser on when I come across them on the interstate. It works, but other times I wonder. Also the range on it is questionable, but then again the manual says that many factors including terrain or weather may affect the range.
