Good phone, accurate description, even better price.

I had to buy this phone due to my other phone breaking. I don't like smartphones for a number of reasons but that's a different story for another day. The description was very accurate, the face of the phone is very scratched up but the screen is still very visible and works fine. All the buttons work like new, the main screen, which is the screen you use %90 of the time, has maybe two small scratches and no dead pixels. The only con that I have for this phone is the battery that I recieved was obviously old, but I purchased a brand new battery for $4 and it's good as new. The phone itself; The best basic phone I've used by far! It has very good qwerty keyboard, a nice big screen for texting, and good call quality. These old basic phones are also built better than the new smartphones, so they can take the abuse of a manual labor job. Pros; +Simple design + great keyboard +good battery life Cons; -hinge that could break if dropped the wrong way -not lightweight

  • Top critical review

    Overall annoying

I have a data plan but the phone does not connect to the internet even though it should have 3G capabilities. The contacts that I backed up from Verizon were uploaded in two sets of alphabetical lists, but I can only choose contacts from the first list. The connection to the other speaker is unclear and of low volume, even on the highest setting. Long battery life.

  • The perfect phone when you want a "PHONE"!

I just need a cell "PHONE" that is easy to carry, works well for calling and texting, without a bunch of unnecessary ancillary clutter, and will not be easily damaged by drops, bumps (or even me sitting on it!). The VN530 is small and resilient. The back screen is large enough for texting and minimal viewing of photos. The QWERTY keyboard is perfect size for texting and phone functions work great. I don't use data apps so I can't speak to those possible functions. The camera and photo viewing is somewhat deficient. Received picture messages are small and hard to view ,but once downloaded to the phone a zoom feature can be used .

  • Popular "normal" cell phone for a reason

A few hiccups vs old OEM phone, but still generally good. Wife needed a replacement for the LG Octane because she had just plain worn out the original over many years. This model seems to have gone off Verizon's offering list but its users apparently prefer this cell to new VZ phones enough that it was either contracted to a new mfr or the line restarted. Possibly due to this or software upgrades, a couple failings occurred with this new phone that weren't present on the old one. 1) When fully charged phone indicated the need for a recharge (1 of 4 bars), but then was immediately showing Full after a moment or when plugged in. 2) Power cycled off a couple times just sitting on its own or when doing normal operations like sending a text (and you don't know if it actually went :-(. Sometimes turns itself back on, sometimes requires manual restart. 3) Probably more a function of transferring phone-to-phone at VZ, but getting annoying phone calls from unknown #'s (which go unanswered) and texts saying free trial period for blah-blah is over and do I want to renew for a mere $1.49/mth

  • Reliable Dumb Phone vs. Smart phone

This phone is great. It has really good features: long battery life, nice size qwerty keyboard, excellent speaker phone for no hands driving, nice size keys, and lots of other things. My kid uses it for text and talk plus some social media things. They loves it. My kid is a phone killer. Number 6 as of now. The expense is reasonable. This little rugged phone is good for someone who is looking not to be a slave to the smartphone charging, being ultra careful not to break the glass screen, and it is very small. It fits in your front pocket without any problems. For those parents that are looking to limit your kids exposure to internet junk and darkness it has lots of possibilities. They can talk and text. This is not a play item or method of distraction. Stays charged for 5 days with constant use. Suits its purpose well. very Reliable.

  • I've had this same phone 7 yrs. now

I totally love this phone! The one I have now is 7 yrs old and still works perfectly. I only bought this same phone last month in case my original phone ever dies and they stop making this. I leave it on 24/7 365 days a year. I only have to plug it in every 3 days. I do between 50 and 100 texts a day but rarely call anyone. The keyboard is fantastic and the whole top flips open so it gives you lots of room to type as opposed to my wife's phone that only slides up like half way. The pictures it takes are just fine. Obviously it's not on the level of the new $1000 phones but who cares, this phone is only $100. I also love that it fits into the little side pocket on the leg of the carpenter pants I wear at work. You don't even know it's there as opposed to those new, giant phones everybody has sticking out of their back pocket. You will not be sorry if you buy this phone.

  • Hard to move on

I have had this exact model of phone for probably 10+ years. Since I love this phone so much I keep buying it. When I get some extra spending money I think I will buy a few extras to have when this one breaks (probably from me doing something stupid and not the phone) in case the world runs out of this amazing phone. Pros: If you just need a phone to make calls and text this phone is great. The physical keyboard is great to have in world with all touch screens. Phone lasts a long time on one charge and what's even better is that it has a removable battery -- so you can charge a few batteries up and probably make it through a week or more (depending on usage -- I have made it a week on one battery charge used sparingly) without needing power. If you are in a low or no signal spot it will ask to go in Power Save mode as to not drain the battery completely if there isn't signal. This isn't to say it won't boost the battery usage if you do want to try to send a text or make a call in little to no signal. The phone is cheap and easily replaceable (you can even backup your contacts -- lol) so there is no need to get insurance when you can replace the phone for less than some insurance plans for one month. Neutral: The phone can take pictures and video, but by 2016 standards its fairly poor quality. This is to be expected for the year in which the phone was created. It isn't fair to put it as a con. I wish the phone had more customization -- I am a huge fan of being able to change everything. This is a personal preference. The phone is a little sluggish in certain situations, but great for its processor and the time period in which it was created. Cons: Very Very Very Minor -- The hinge seems to wear out and get loose after a month or two of use -- however it doesn't have much of an effect on usability if any. Wrapping things up: Even after having this phone for such a long time I have not really messed around with the social, apps, web browser and games so I can't really talk to that as much. However if you are getting this phone to browse the internet and play games you probably picked the wrong phone. I Highly recommended for people who need a phone and not a computer that happens to have the ability to make calls.

  • Pretty good phone, still using!

Keyboard like so many is small so I make numerous mistakes. It works in our home when newer ones will not, even though we can't get phone calls, it will ring then we will use our home phone to return calls. Pretty good camera. If it had a larger keyboard and better sounds, when this one gives it up i would get another. Like the simplicity! Would recommend for calls and texting; don't know about the other goodies it supports as I only use it for the basic's!

  • Favorite cell of all

This is good phone for me because i dont need data except text and calls. I dont like touch screen and was having tough time keeping it from turning off in my purse since it was so sensitive. I ALSO LIKE THE TWO SCREENS . i WILL NOT GO BACK TO TOUCH SCREEN.
