About this product

Product Information

Smilebit's Jet Grind Radio jumps from Dreamcast to Game Boy Advance in this port from developer Vicarious Visions. In a futuristic city named Tokyo-to, players must rise up against an oppressive police force ruling over the neighborhoods. It is a world filled with rebellious gangs who arm themselves with spray paint instead of handguns or knives, and who travel using inline skates instead of bicycles or cars. Rather than adopt the same 3D perspective as the 2000 original, Jet Grind Radio on the handheld features an isometric view of the various city blocks found in the game.

Players must skate throughout each environment and spray graffiti on specially marked areas in an attempt to clear stages within the time limit. They must also be on the lookout for Captain Onishima and his police squad, who will patrol the area and try to stop them at all costs. As players progress through the Street mode, the heart of the game, they will be able to select one of three characters from the gang known as the GG's: Beat, Gum, and Tab. Yet in order to assemble the team, players must first prove their skills by imitating a character's skating run.

Multi Mode supports up to four players in four different events: Turf Wars, Killer Crush, Throw Down, and Tricky. Turf Wars is a two-player game that has both skaters spray painting as many areas as possible, while Killer Crush is a simultaneous race toward a tag point. Throw Down consists of tagging others with spray paint, and a game of Tricky involves outscoring opponents using grinds and aerial stunts. Jet Grind Radio for Game Boy Advance also features a Graffiti Editor as well as battery backup to save progress and high scores for each game mode.
