Exactly what I needed.
I don't need a tablet, really. I've got a MacBook Air and an iPhone and a Kindle and between the three of those, I have all the mobile computing power I need. But I also work in academic research and I'm a comics fan, and when it comes to journal article PDFs and digital comics, none of those devices has a screen the right size for reading. So I didn't need to spend hundreds of dollars I didn't have on a fancy new iPad; I just needed a 9-inch screen to read on. That's it. That's all. This one was $80 or something and I realized that after complaining for two years about my reading situation, that was a legit price to pay to shut myself up. I'm reading comics on this now, I've got all the articles for my current project organized and highlighted. Was not aware this version of Ipad was so limited. Could not download or play candy crush on this version. The app would not download. Do not bother with buying this tablet. I really like this tablet. It's not blazing fast, but it's solid. I've dropped it a few times with no apparent damage. My granddaughter loves my iPads,but with her being 3 years old , I thought by getting her this first generation,I could limit a few problems. I took her favorite DVDs and converted them to the right format and loaded them. No problem ,then I loaded apps just for her,yep for all you people out there you can find great apps and tv programs that can be downloaded. One more thing We got a lot of memory for little cash. I don't worry if anything happens because it is cheaper than other kid tablets and its Apple and with no upgrades no problem with iOS updates ,etc. Wifi stays turned off and she knows what icons she shouldn't touch. One other note. It has no camera and that is great ,she doesn't need it. I created an email account for her and We send pictures to her and video that she can access ,but are protected by us. Parts 5 star, iPad 1, in general, not worth much when repaired.
I purchased this item for spare parts in order to fix the same unit that I already owned. My unit died several years ago and I tried to fix it, but instead broke a ribbon connector between the main board and the digitizer. The purchased item had all the parts that I needed. I was replacing a dead battery, that I purchased separately. So, I got what I paid for in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the cost of the battery and the spare part unit exceeded the price of a working unit. The other downside of the fix, is that there are very few apps that support the machine. Original Ipad
I decided to pick up this original Ipad set up for use with AT&T because of the GPS as well as the older version of ios. I purchased the Magellan Roadmate North America app and it stopped working as soon as I updated to ios 9. My GPS app runs perfectly and at such a low price its perfect to leave in my car as a dedicated gps. In case anyone is curious Magellan has turned a blind eye to all of the purchasers of it's very expensive app. And I did waste a great deal of time contacting them. I was a bit upsets at first when i realized no apps would work on this tablet since the OS is old. You cant download any apps because they require at least 9.0 to work. Disappointed
The Ipad keeps kicking me off of the internet and I was unaware that I couldn't FaceTime. The whole reason I brought it in the first place is because my daughter and first grandchild lives in another state because her husband is a Marine. So I didn't want my grandchild to forget my face.
