About this product

Product Information

Despite having the number four in its name, "Rune Factory 4" is the sixth entry in the "Rune Factory" series. The "Rune Factory 4" original release date was in October 2013. It's from developer Neverland and published by Xseed Games in the United States. At the start of the game, your character is knocked unconscious and thrown off the side of an airship. You awake in the town of Selphia, where the townsfolk mistake you for royalty. You're given a farm to live in with one goal, which is to make the town of Selphia a tourist destination. You'll do this by making money selling crops, adventuring, and helping the townsfolk.Like past "Rune Factory" games in this franchise, the core of the game remains the farming. You'll need to plant the proper crops based on the season, water them daily, and then harvest them. You can sell the crops you harvest for money, which you can spend on supplies. There are a large number of crops to plant in this Nintendo 3DS title, with each one having different properties. For example, one crop may take a long time to mature but yield a large sum of cash. Another crop may mature but quickly yield less profit. Space on your homestead is limited, so players will need to figure out which combination of crops works best for them.In this Nintendo 3DS game, being a farmer is only half the gameplay. The other half comes from adventuring. When you enter a dungeon, the game switches its genre from simulation to action role-playing games. Combat is fast with many different weapons, spells, and special abilities from which to choose. This 3DS game also features a swapping mechanic that allows you to change weapons on the fly instantly. You'll need all the help you can get as "Rune Factory 4" features some tough enemies. In particular, some of the bosses are massive beasts that may take many gamers multiple attempts to beat. If you're ever stuck on a challenging monster, you can upgrade your gear and items to give you an edge in combat.Like in previous games in this series, you can tame every monster you come across. Once tamed, these monsters can then accompany you in combat or you can place them on your farm. By having monsters do your chores for you, you can free up your time for other tasks, such as running errands. "Rune Factory 4" also allows for your character to romance other characters in town. The romance aspect adds another layer of depth for your player in this 3DS game. You can even start a family in this title.Publisher Xseed ensured that this game would remain appropriate for a wide array of ages when it localized it. As a result, this title features a rating of E10+, meaning it's suitable for gamers who are age 10 and older. This Nintendo 3DS title features over 100 hours of content if you want to see and do everything.

One of the best 3DS games I've ever played.

Why is this game so underrated? It's amazing! The storyline is awesome, the characters are cool, the references to past games in the series are amazing, and there is enough content to keep me interested for hours after the storyline is complete.

    The Fatal flaw

This game is a great mix of Maplestory, Animal Crossing, and Harvest Moon. You're able to farm, engage with the townsfolk, fight and even tame monsters you encounter (including most bosses), great music, and choose your gender with some accessories to change your appearance somewhat down the road, then later even more so with full outfits. All aspects of this game are well put together...except for the combat. Combat is a big part of this game, but why it's the fatal flaw in this game and keeping it from being amazing or even a masterpiece is it's poorly put together! At first it's alright, but as you progress you'll be overwhelmed to the point you cannot move or attack (even worse you'll often take significant damage/get dizzy, leaving you open to even MORE attacks), take unavoidable hits, never have good armor until way after you needed it, often be afflicted with one or more status ailments that greatly hinder your already little combative skills, (none of which ever go away on their own) you have a pitiful short-range dash that has a split-second of invulnerability making it virtually useless, too much tedious stat leveling to be somewhat decent at things, restrictive gameplay preventing you from grinding or making any decent extra progression, you can use a forge later but its usage is nonsensical, and lastly you can equip shields but are enable to actually use them to defend with them aside from a stat boost - which isn't enough. Honestly, don't waste your time or money on this massive disappointment. Go play a FAR superior game - 7th Dragon lll Code:VFD for 3DS.

  • Can’t put it down.

Great game, I’m a long time fan of harvest moon games. This is a great combination of harvest moon meets fantasy.

  • One of my Favourites

The Rune Factory series has become one of my very favourites. This is a great RPG and has a lot of content and hours upon hours of play time since it can be played non-linearly. Also, unlike the previous games in the series this is the first to allow you to choose your gender and play as a male or female from the beginning. If you like RPGs with a kind of fantasy life feel to them then this is the game for you! Lots of fun, you won't be disappointed :)
