Great value for a great used case
I bought a used Pelican 1700 gun case and am very pleased with it. Although the case came with closed cell foam and Velcro tie-down straps, I decided to replace it with new foam, so that I could cut it to fit my weapon and equipment. The case's condition showed some normal signs of wear it is fully functional. Although the paint marker writing of a soldier's name and unit would buff right out, I think I'll keep it as it only adds character. Buying a used Pelican case was a great alternative to buying a new one, which is expensive, or buying less-expensive cases that can't hold up to the same kind of rough handling.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Solid protective gun case, but
The case is a solid plastic protective case. Surprisingly heavy. Has roller wheels for handling like your luggage. Here's my dislikes, which are minor in the big picture. After you cut the foam for inserting your gun, the foam will come out with your gun, no matter what you do. Time consuming issue to fit it back inside. There should be some sort of peel and stick backer that would adhere the top piece of foam to the bottom, one your cutting is done. I would love to see the wheels removable, so you can stand the case up for storage. I don't know about your gun safe, but mine stores guns upright. Instructions say when cutting the insert foam, cut a little on the small side. I would suggest not doing that, cut the right size or you will exacerbate the problem of the foam lifting out with the gun. Foam is cellular lighter type, there is denser more shape consistent foam out there.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent product and description
Pelican makes a great product. It's solid, heavier than you'd think for It's size, and in fine shape. There's no need to worry about my gear with these cases. It's strong and lives up to the Pelican reputation. Luckily the wheels help lighten the load. I always pay more than I would for other brands for a reason.
