Easy to use and crystal clarity

Full disclosure, my camera body doesn't support the auto focus in this lens, so I've only used it as a manual. That being said, I do a lot of portrait shots, so this lens is perfect for that and I would need the manual focus anyway. Super high aperture. I've used this in a dimly lit nightclub and taken pictures with the flash off and gotten clear pictures. (Used max ISO so there was a lot of noise in the pictures, but fixed that in photoshop). I love how crisp the pictures come out, and the bokeh is mind-blowing. Unedited portraits come out looking like something that took hours to blur the background on in an editing program. 10/10 would recommend. Both images are ones I took with the lens. Check out the bokeh.

    Good enough

Cheap, nifty fifty. It’s a good bargain so I would recommend picking one up. The aperture ring is not smooth which bugs me but it gets the job done.

  • One of the finest lenses of all time

I've been shooting Nikon for 35 years, and have owned about 20 Nikkor lenses. The 50mm f/1.8 Ai has the best IQ of all the NIKKORS I have (along with the 28mm f/2.8 Ai-S). It is probably the sharpest lens I've ever owned, and the contrast and color are at least as good as any Ai or Ai-s lens. The images it can produce with a tripod are nothing short of stunning. It is also an amazing value, and the 50mm angle of view, whether full frame or crop sensor, is essential for those who like primes, as I do. Over the past few months I've sold most of my modern plastic NIKKORS and am buying Ai and Ai-S lenses to replace them. They are better for video, and for landscape photography for many reasons: smaller, lighter, better made, and easier to focus in the field and offer much more precise depth of field focus (zone focusing is superb, unlike modern AF lenses). That last fact allows me to get everything in focus while using the widest aperture I can, every time, and quickly (before my hands freeze). Oh, and they are cheap.

  • Best Step Towards Pro-Quality Photos You Can Make

I really like this lens, and have been recommending it to any friends I know who own a Nikon. For less than $200, this is a quality lens that takes pro-level photos - even in minimal light. Do yourself a favor and purchase one of these beauty's today and take your photography to the next level. Things I enjoy about the lens: - I get fantastic quality in every photo - It's lightweight and hardly takes any room in my camera case - Can drop it down to f/1.8, which is fantastic for low-light and helps get that nice blurred background you've been wanting - Made by Nikon - It works on both FX and DX camera bodies - It's less than $200 - Versatile/staple lens for many situations Things that could be seen as cons: - It's a "prime" lens, so 50mm is what you get (but, makes it simple) - The Autofocus does not work on DX camera bodies below the 7000 series (though the manual focus is easy to use) Overall: - Buy this lens - you won't regret your decision at all.

  • great product!

The product I received was in excellent condition. the aperture ring was snappy and focusing was precise and easy. There only a tiny scratch on the front element but did not affect image quality. this lens was not only compatible with my Nikon f3, but also my other digital apsc and full frame Nikon bodies.

  • Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

This is a good lens for someone wanting to explore low light photography with fast apertures like 1.8. The background blurs nicely and the sharpness at 1.8 is good. The sharpness at f 8 seems to be better. The lens is well constructed and feels good in the hand. With proper care it should last for many years. The pricing was more then fair for this lens. The Nikon AF 5mm f/1.4 is several times the price. If you can afford the 1.4 then go for it. The 1.8 is a great introduction in to faster prime lens.

  • Best investment ever

Great lens, at first it took some time to get used to the manual focus as I have a nikon D3400 so no autofocus, because this lens is not supported on this model. Now that I got a hang of it I actually really love it as I can fully control the focus and create images that I want. The images are sharp and amazing, now I can't stop taking photos as this lens is incredibly fun to use on just about anything, it's also really good in low light. I highly recommend this to anyone especially for the price and the additional things that came with this lens.

  • Great Lens

This used lens came in excellent condition. It is lightweight, has top quality optics, and meter indexing for Nikon DLSR cameras with a meter indexing tap on the lens mount. Requires manual focus and aperture setting, but these are the secrets to taking good photographs.

  • Great supplier but Beware of limitations of lens/body combination

Supplier provided great lens at great price in amazingly short cycle. My issue is with Nikon not the supplier. This lens does NOT autofocus with the D3000 series of cameras even though Nikon calls it an autofocus lens. The D3000 series does not have an autofocus motor which is required to make this lens AF. The AF of the lens works perfectly on my old D70s but the lens is manual focus only on my D3100. Neither factor makes the camera or the lens bad but Nikon does not state the incompatibility of the camera with the lens.
