Climbing Stands
Replacement cables should be changed out once a year, but at $40 a pair many do not. If you leave your stand in the weather then all the more reason to change out the cables. An acquaintance fell from a treestand two years ago and his life has gone down hill. family life, work life and health have all gone down hill and addiction to pain medication hasn't helped. His eleven year old son was with him and saw him fall, if not for his son being in his life , I hate to think where this may have lead. Keep your harness attached to the tree when climbing up as well as down. Just slide it up the trunk in front of you, it takes about an extra 70 seconds. Had an older Summit Viper Stand that the cables were rough and I had already reshrunk once. Decided to replace the cables to out the stand back in use. Cables came and were exactly what was needed.
