A 32 MB cache serves as onboard RAM, storing information about recently accessed data instead of sending it to the drive itself, thus increasing the access speed to frequently used files within the Western Digital 160 GB Hard Drive. The Western Digital WD1600HLHX internal hard drive features an average latency of 3 ms with a typical drive-ready time of 8 seconds. The Western Digital 160 GB Hard Drive has an operational temperature of 41 to 131 degrees F, with non-operational temperatures of -40 to 158 degrees F. GREAT upgrade! :)
I bought a used (Seller refurbished) Dell 990 Mini Tower with a Intel Core i7 CPU, it came with a re-certified HD, but after using 3 sources, I kept getting REPLACE type messages, and it lagged a bit too. Well, I bought this NEW WD1600HLHX 169GB HD, and WOW!!!!!! Very, very fast!!!!! You can hear it working, but I personally do NOT find it annoying, or distracting, not really! If you ever used 10K RPM drives 5-10 years ago, this one is quiet! LOL Also, it is a 2.5" drive, mounted in a shock/sound/heat absorbing caddy! (I believe those caddies do all that, right? ). I love it so much, I bought another one for my Core i5 Desktop!!!!! HIGHLY recommend this drive!!! :)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
