With their studio-quality sound, the black Samson SR850 headband headphones allow you to hear your favorite performers the way they intended to be heard. This professional headset features a self-adjusting headband and semi-open-back design, making them comfortable and secure to wear. These reference headphones were designed by Samson to deliver an excellent reproduction of studio recordings within an expansive sound stage. To achieve this audio quality, this professional studio reference set features two 50-millimeter drivers sandwiched between dispersion plates and acoustically-sealed chambers. The Samson SR850 headband headphones feature plush velour ear cups that add comfort and prevent ear fatigue, which makes them great for studio sound engineers trying to tweak a performance. The Samson SR850 headphones feature a semi-open design to enhance ambient listening. Open-back headphones provide a better sound stage and more accurate high frequency response when compared to closed headsets. This also means that they leak more sound into the environment, so they are best enjoyed at home or in a private environment, where your music won't disturb others. One of the biggest features in the Samson SR850 studio headphones is the set of 50-millimeter drivers, which are larger than on most models. Larger drivers in a set of headphones are comparable to the size of a stereo system's subwoofer; they have more power, however, and can reach the lower bass frequencies much more easily. This model has an impressive frequency response of 10Hz-30,000Hz, allowing the lower bass frequencies to come through loud and clear. With an impedance of 32 Ohms, these headphones don't require a lot of juice to power them, so you can listen with your mobile or laptop and enjoy top-notch sound quality. Headphones that have a higher impedance than 32 Ohms need more power to get up to listening volume, meaning you will have to crank the volume pretty high to get to a good listening level. Another Good Review of the Samson SR850
There were a lot of good reviews of these open back studios headphones already. Im adding mine, to note that the bass frequency response in these goes down to 10hz. (Dr Dre beats stop at a paltry 20. My discontinued but beloved Sony mdvr700's went down to five.) so as far as listening to youtube or music these are for the price fantastic. Now, for studio monitoring, if you have the common need to really save up for the proper sets of actual speaker monitors, plus dj proper phones, plus the bass traps for the corners of your room, then you can get a little ahead for the time being by putting your money toward all that and buy these for the cheapie. Exceptionally fine product
I'm not a pro musician, but love music and have fine devices to produce hi-fi signal to the headphones. So I just decided to check if the comments on the Internet that they are more than fine as a monitor-type... Since I have a bunch of other fine headphones to compare them with: AKG, Beyerdynamic, Grado, Sennheiser, I found them performing exceptionally well and well buit w/o a burden of the price tag of another one. Freq, details in all range, no mushy sound. They have a normal amount of bass except real lows, so do not worry about "noname" illness to hammer each sound in your head. As others have said for the price you get for these are outstanding. I was looking for great head phones for my home studio. Something that would amp up my mids and other things that I miss from the speakers so I can mix and master my tracks better. nice mixing phones
got these as a lightweight, inexpensive headphone for mixing in my home studio. They are lightweight, comfortable, and I believe the sound quality is excellent. All frequencies seem well defined, and if anything they may be a hair bright, but not overwhelmingly so. Budget stereo phones
Excellent soundfield, accurate frequency response, comfortable lightweight and velour earpads. I bought these after using many other headsets, including AKG monitor cans, and the recent Superlux HD681 which sound almost identical. I am impressed at this price or at any price, that this quality is achievable. Certainly as clean and spatially correct as my AKG monitor headsets with more bass than the neutral AKGs which is to be expected.
