I bought this particular cap as an added protection for my gas tank on my 2010 Chry Sebring conv. Shipping was super-speedy, and installation was really simple. Because most of these locking caps do not come with a new/replacement tether cord, I was able to re-use my original cord - both ends just snap into place, and can gently be removed. I saw in another review that someone had re-used their original tether cord by drilling a 1/4" hole into the new cap, and simply inserting the old cord into the new hole (it fits perfectly). It did take me a few minutes to figure out how the key lock works - it helped by going to "slant.com" for installation instructions. To engage the lock (you don't need key to lock it), just turn the cap to the right until you hear it click 3 times. Done - it's locked. To unlock/remove cap, insert key, give it a quarter turn (will start to release fuel pressure with "hiss" sound), then unscrew cap and its off - then remove key, and it is ready to be screwed in, with the locking feature. It's a lot simpler than I am probably making it sound. Great product, does what it says, great price, easy to use and gives added peace of mind that the gas tank is protected. It comes with 2 keys - I suggest one for the glove box (spare) and one to pair with your car keys. I highly recommend this product!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

No Engine Light
I have a 2009 Jeep Patriot. This is the first locking gas cap that sealed properly. I have been using it for 2 weeks and the engine light has not come on. Other locking gas caps caused the engine light to come on within 2-3 days. You do not need the key to lock it, only to unlock it. After fueling, just put the cap on and give it 3 turns (It will make a clicking noise). That will lock it. You can test the lock by turning the cap counterclockwise.
