Graco X7. Very nice sprayer!
I bought this to replace my five year old Graco Project Painter Plus. I'm a Landlord and small time property investor. I use it about a handful of times a year. This is a much better sprayer than my PPP. Perhaps the best feature is the auto-prime. It brings up the paint and creates pressure right away. I no longer have to mess around with getting the sprayer primed and going. It is also VERY nice to have a stand for a sprayer; easier to move and you can wheel it around with the paint hanger. This sprayer also has more power and sprays paint better than my old PPP. I wish I had spent the extra $ the first time for this sprayer. Even though you might be an occasional user as a home owner or a part time painter, I would recommend spending the extra money for this sprayer over the lower end models if you can afford it. In the short term and long run you will be much happier. I'm sure their higher line sprayers are better, but I couldn't justify the extra $ for my use and purpose. I have a couple of important suggestions if you don't already know. You must always strain your paint or primer! The strainer screen on the bottom of the suction tube is not sufficient (I actually leave mine off because I always strain my material). I use the inexpensive 5 gallon strainer nets from Home Depot. Also, you should always thin your paint or primer with water (for water based material). You can look up online recommended amounts of water for thinning. If you don't take these two steps, you will likely find yourself constantly turning the spray valve to "clean" very often. Taking the time performing these two steps up front will save you lots of time and frustration while you're painting. One last note, it is common for the suction tube check ball to get stuck after storage. If the sprayer won't suck up paint right away, simply remove the suction hose and use something like a nail (upside down) to push on the check ball and make sure it's moving. I also found that the outlet for the spray hose also has a check valve. If the sprayer won't pull paint and the inlet check ball is not stuck (and you have the primer knob in the correct position), unscrew the out let housing and make sure the check valve moves. I would also recommend using Graco's Pump Armor to preserve the parts and pump. I'm not a full time painter or professional, but all in all, I think this is a very nice sprayer. how it works.
works fantastic . a few exceptions. Pickup hose would be better if it had a bend in it like lower models. Hard to get in/out of bucket for cleaning etc. Also, definitely should buy a swivel at gun/hose connection. Fight stiff hose to get good angle on gun sg2. I think a different gun,sg3 has it built in. Refurbished but works great !
Bought refurbished unit last week. My first paint job. Worked great. I didn't even need to highest pressure setting, was at 2/3 level. Smooth supply of paint. Just be careful that Tube nut on Spray Gun is tight and check it often. Got loose once and created little mess, but learnt to check it often.
