Markal Silver Streak
After using rectangle soapstone for 15 years for steel fab I'm loving this marker! Makes a nice, fine line where needed. "Aim small, miss small". Doesn't rub off as easy as soapstone. Easy enough to sharpen by dragging along smooth concrete or a file (faster than using the in cap sharpener). Marks a line just as thin as a portable band saw blade. The pencil mechanism is simple and clever. The cap could be a bit tighter fitting. If the cap is lost the pencil will be useless unless you turn a new cap on a lathe. this pencil reminds me of the lead holders i used to use back in the day as an architectural draftsman. Its simple and works fine, The marker portion is much better than the old soapstone stuff and miles ahead of it. I have used it already and like it a lot. Leaves a lasting mark!
Have always used these pens for marking steel for cutting and labeling. Marks through water and rust. Unlike marking with soap stone, the mark doesn't wipe off or blow off.
