    Older Style is Better Style

This older style of the Sonicare has the oft mentioned issue of accumulating black mold within the vibrating part of the brush head. Removal of the brush head once a week and a little cleaning with soap and an old tooth brush can prevent the gunk from developing. Germ laden drool tends to seep down into the vibrating magnets area to cause such a problem, but regular cleaning makes this a non-issue. The newer brush heads for this E-series may be better sealed, since so far I haven't noticed this problem with my new unit. My previous one lasted about 7 years until even with new batteries it would not work. That is not bad for daily use. The newer style have moving parts inside that vibrate in order to avoid the mold or gunk issue, but this is a bad idea as moving parts at high speed wear out faster and cause the newer style to be less reliable. This older style vibrates the head magnets and otherwise deep inside it has no moving parts, which is a good thing. The cleaning action is better than my previous brush of the same type, but perhaps my previous unit had been worn out for awhile before it just quit. The brush heads can be purchased on Ebay for a modest price and I recommend this particular style over the new and more expensive units that do seem to have reliability issues -- as would be expected given their fast moving parts inside. Sometimes it is better to go with something requiring a little maintenance when the performance and reliability is better and the cost is lower, to boot!

    Toothbrush Review

This handle has power surges during usage, hope it doesn’t quit altogether! After use charging light will blink until fully charged. I still have my old handle, never blinked like that, but maybe because this is a different model.

  • Sonicare E series brush

Sonicare base lasted maybe two years before it started to fail. Mainly the batteries fail. There is a YouTube video on how to change the batteries but it is not user friendly and some soldering is required. I couldn't believe a new base was only $11.50 in Ebay. The E series has been long replaced so the price when down now. The E series cleans as good as any other brand or type and the brushes are now generically available on eBay for a fraction of Philips prices. I bought six brushes for less than $10

  • Great product(s) and price!!

I needed to replace my old toothbrush handle, which had stopped working after many years of use, and after searching several sites, I came across this one, which is exactly what i needed and the fact that the offer was for 2 handles (which I wanted in case my husband needed one in the future) I couldn't pass up the deal! I've been using it since I received it and it is a perfect fit and works great! I am VERY happy with the product and the price for both handles is fantastic!

  • Cleans well but won't last forever

I think this toothbrush does a very good job of making my teeth clean, certainly better than the Oral-B electric toothbrush I used before. It holds a charge well, requiring recharge once a week or so. But after a couple or few years, it holds a charge for less and less time until eventually you need to keep it in the charger all the time.

  • Love the quad timer.

Durable, lasts weeks on a single charge. With the quad timer, there is a slight pause every 30 seconds to let you know it's time to change quadrants in your mouth. Feels unnatural at first, but within a few uses, you get comfortable with it, especially when you consider it's doing a much better job of cleaning your teeth.

  • Philips toothbrush

I've had to replace the base of my toothbrush a few times. Unfortunately at the store all I was able to buy was the entire kit that include the charging base the instructions and all the things I don't need because I already have doubles of. So I was very happy to find the retailer that only sold the toothbrush handle and for such a reasonable price.

  • Worth the price!

It came fully charged and is a power house compared to the last one I had. I like the dual settings on the on off button. Works very well..worth the money.
