1990's - 2000's Childhood Nostalgia
"Reader Rabbit Personalized 1st Grade", is one of the many games made by The Learning Company in 2000 for Windows 95/98. This was a CD-ROM game from early childhood. The game teaches children 1st grade math,English, music, and science. The game personalizes itself for children by giving them a "test drive" to see which version of the game is best for them. There is a level one and level two version.
CD- ROM games, work best with older versions of Windows such as:Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 98,and Windows 95. Most CD-ROM games made before 2002,will not work with Windows 10 because the software is too old and is not compatible. This game is not compatible with Windows 10 so the only way to play the game,is to either play it on an older version of Windows or a virtual machine that has an older version of window emulated. VMware Workstation Pro, is a software that can emulate any version of Windows. In a nutshell, it's a having another computer, inside a computer. There are video tutorials on Youtube on how to install VMware Worstation Pro and how to set up older versions of Windows on it. I first played this game on Windows XP and I was able to play it again thanks to VMware.
The game is about Reader Rabbit and his friends getting ready for the big Wordville play happening tomorrow night at 8:00 P.M. . Reader Rabbit and some of the people participating in the play, are checking over things to make sure they're ready for opening night. Then, they all go home to get some sleep. However, once they all leave, that is Spike the Porcupine appears to sabotage the show by getting rid of everything so that there won't be a show. He is doing this because everyone thought that his ideas weren't good enough for the play.
The next morning at 8:00 A.M. , Reader and his friends meet at the theater to get ready for opening night. However, when the stage curtain was pulled, everything was gone! Everyone started to think about what to do.There was still time to make things right;everyone that helped with the play, could remake what was needed. They had about twelve hours before showtime to get everything back. In the game, you play as Reader Rabbit going through Wordville to Professor Owl's house to write scripts and to help Penelope the parrot, with word pronunciation, helping Pierre the raccoon, with making billboards and composing music, helping Papa Bear and Baby Bear, his daughter, with costumes, and helping Babs the beaver, with makings sets and making props.
