NTV300 to make your not so smart TV smarter
My daughter purchased one of these last summer for her apartment at college. She doesn't have cable TV but does have internet. We have an older LCD TV that had everything but the SmartTV options. This gives you all of the major streaming channels plus YouTube and some other fun things. It only has HDMI so you can't use it on the older TVs needing RCA inputs, but it is a steal for the money and great to add on. i bought this product because my smart tv dint work well on hulu...well this one works better but still having problems with hulu...seems like netflix and you tube work flawless..but every time i turn on hulu it skips cuts out burps and plays the same thing over after commercials ect...VERY FRUSTRATING!! why is it their commercials always seem to work perfect!.....i pay for this service and i like their programming but their stream is terrible....as for your unit..i love it!..maybe i just need to upgrade my router...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Was surprised
Bought this for my in-laws' exercise room. This NeoTV isn't the fastest thing, but it has plenty to offer. The Apps are good and they're still writing updates for it. The one we bought launched right into an update and performed well at VUDU and Netflix so far with a hard wire connection. Haven't tried WiFi. I recommend this for the price. I am reviewing the NETGEAR NEO TV MAX model number NTV300SL model ONLY The MAX has a usb stick port to play all your own media The BASIC NTV 300 does not be careful if you order it from ebay THE MAX IS THE RED BOX model AND 10.00 dollars more than the blue box one and worth every penny be careful I know my way around media boxes and have used them for years as well as media combo DVD PLAYERS like blu ray lg, SAMSUNG and a host of others. You see, I have worked in the electronic industry for over 20 YEARS with companys like BEST BUY, GOOD GUYS,CIRCUIT CITY, KMART, MACY's and the list goes on...I wanted a easy set up box and one not like a roku thats " all about the SIGN UP to these sites please" The netgear is very diffent, and I like that.. NO SIGN IN to make it start working like 95% of the other ones. NO CREDIT CARDS to get it to work like apple and roku which I hate. JUST PLAY MY STUFF AND get to it quickly, thats what the NETGEAR is built for...the working mans ( or womans) simple player. I play mostly internet files like MKV MP4 AVI and many more and the netgear don't miss a beat...GLORIOUS... By the way some of the other player I have used are...roku 1 2 3 apple tv gen 3 western digital units samsung blu ray( the best in bunch ) and over 14 devices in all. Working in service and sales gave me a chance to use or buy just about any of them, and yes I have used for years the KODI like interface on my computers the XBMC ( media center ) way before you thought it was the " NEW THING" just with a name change last year on android PS looking for a internet type one check out NETGEAR's GTV 100 that's the same type but with a older google tv system and wireless trackpad built in. The main message here is THE NETGEAR CLAN of media boxes are great. For basic models to the NEO TV NTV300SL -100 is this reveiw listed here .... FOR on;y about 35.00 on ebay its just the best media stramer box unless you have required media sites to use. This streaming player is good for someone like me who is not real familiar with electronics and how they work. It was very easy to set up and use. Not the fastest player but it does the job. EASY TO USE, DEPENDABLE, & PERFORMS WELL - particularly with AT&T slow DSL Service
I have 2 NEOTV Streaming Devices - 1 for the bedroom and 1 for the den. 1 unit recently got an INTERNAL MEMORY STORAGE ERROR - after I played live radio music/app for hours. Coincidence? don't know, but afterwards, the unit stopped working properly and the reset button did not keep the unit working. Following this experience, I would advise a buyer to purchase only a new one [although no longer available in the stores] - since you don't/won't know if/how the unit was used by previous buyer - and the actual working condition of the unit. Anyway, the other NEOTV device still works perfectly - but I won't listen to live radio thru this unit - since, I guess, that it must use more internal memory than the unit has. I purchased a “new” NEOTV off of eBay, but when I received it, the box and plastic-wrap had been torn/opened - so I returned it without trying out the unit [since it was not NEW]. Overall, other than playing live radio/app through the unit, I strongly suggest the NEOTV Streaming Device. I watch NETFLIX mostly with this unit. It even works well with my AT&T DSL service via my wireless router. It is EASY TO SET UP, EASY TO USE, DEPENDABLE, and PERFORMS WELL.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Awesome Lil machine.
It was a gift for my mother on mothers day and she hooked it up herself and learned how to use it herself. That tells you how you how easy it is cause my mother is not tech savvy.
