Awesome rig!
I have been using an Icom IC-271A for local FM and weak signal SSB for over 5 months. It gets great signal reports with a stock handheld mic and at 25W SSB, I can reach stations over 50 miles from a folded dipole antenna 8 ft high in my living room. It is simple to use without any non-sense bells and whistles. Programming memory channels is straight forward and the dual VFOs add great flexibility of jumping around the band and changing modes. And it is not too big for mobile ops either (at least not for my truck). Awesome rig for the a newbie to multi-mode ops or the veteran looking to expand his/her horizons.
