Jim Field Smith's gentle satire BUTTER stars Jennifer Garner as Laura Pickler, the wife of the longtime winner of a local butter-carving contest. When he decides to bow out of this year's competition, she can't imagine the family not having the title, so she begins to train herself. Her biggest rival turns out to be a young adopted African-American girl named Destiny (Yara Shahidi), who has a natural gift for sculpture. As the competition gets more and more fierce, Laura resorts to drastic measures, convincing an old flame to perform some dirty tricks in order to get the upper hand. Butter
This is a pretty good movie. I am a Jennifer Garner fan and have been ever since Alias. She was good in this movie although not at her best. Her character wasn't very likable maybe that had something to do with it. I'm also an Olivia Wilde fan. Although I don't believe I've ever seen her in a role quite like this. (She was a very sexy stripper) Ty Burrell pretty much played is Modern Family roll. Hugh Jackman had a small, quirky role. I don't know whatever happened to Ashley Greene she seemed to have disappeared from acting, but she had a small part also and play it well. Rob Corddry is always good, and Kristen Schaal is always great. To sum up, I guess I'd say this was kind of a quirky movie with a lot of quirky little parts. Good but not great. The high point being, the Olivia Wilde stripper part. It was quite entertaining.
