Compulsory to install in centralized ground plane.
I bought this antenna and installed it on the edge of the car, giving me ROE problems. I have looked for alternatives and investigate that placing it on a good ground plane is where it works. If you buy this antenna make sure to install it in the center of the hood of the car, does not work otherwise or you will have headaches by tuning the SWR.

It does need a good ground plain. Put in on mirror mount I know is grounded and could only get swr down to 2 across the band. I put my splitter on and added a second antenna to other mirror. Cut very small amounts when tuning. Just a quartet inch dropped mine 2 swr

CB Install Chevy Truck
You will need a good ground plane for this Tram antenna to be tuned in. SWR was 2 on all channels. When I have my RM Italy KL203 on my SWR is flat 1.0 on all channels. When the KL203 is off the SWR is back to 2. So I will just keep the AMP on. I’m running an Uniden 980 SSB Radio with the RM Italy 203P. I have a hood mount antenna bracket with the 9ft fire ring coax on my Chevy Silverado. The Tram Antenna works great. Being 4ft it doesn’t hit everything either. It really worked out nice for me.

Really happy with this CB antenna! If your a dump truck driver or drive trucks off road. Load asphalt under low clearance plants (that break fiberglass CB antennas) GET THIS ALL STEEL WHIP ANTENNA! you'll be happy, as it outperforms the fiberglass antennas I've had. And not worries of breaking antenna when going under low clearance or on tree branches etc.
