Ease of operation
The cap glides the food up and down with ease. The adjustments on the side is easy to change the cuts and/or thicknesses. The non skid feet keep the mandoline in place. The hand guard, in addition to protection is large enough not to hinder the food size. I also like that I am sliding food on stainless steel and not aluminum. My only complaint was that so far I am unable to get waffle slices, which was a selling point for me. However. I haven't tried thicker waffle slices yet. I also like black appliances, but I won't hold that against the mandoline. Over all it is a great product and if I can get the waffle cut to work it will earn the 5th star.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Title is fine as is. If you need a mandoline it says what it needs to say
It is ok. It will slice tomatoes but not without a lot of uneven slices and juice. My main issue is that the maximum thickness is too thin to slice things like eggplant for eggplant parmesan nicely. I'd estimate max thickness is about 1/4 inch. The machine is well made and easy to set up and operate. If I ate potatoes, which I do not, this thing would be worth its weight in gold. It depends entirely on what you want to use it for as to how much you will like it. Like I said, for me it is ok. Hopefully I will learn to love it in the future.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Truly Professional design
The PL8 Mandoline appears to be designed with the user in mind. The blade settings allow anything from paper thin slices to MacDonald's fries thick. I haven't tried ALL of the settings, but those I have done work quite satisfactorily. I found the food guard/slide unit required a little getting used to as the pressure vectors are a bit tricky. (pressing in one direction while pushing in another with the same hand, and steadying the device with the other all at the same time. Also, one minor glitch seemed to present itself each time I used it. The Hand guard/slicing guide would occasionally hang up on the (control) side of the ramp during the return motion to the top of the ramp. Solid slicer
There is no need for different removable blades as everything is built into this slicer. A rotary selector is used to adjust the thickness and a slide button engages the julienne or the French fry options. The wavy or waffle blade is hidden under a flip up tray. The raised legs fold under the unit and the hand grip is large enough to protect your hands. The entire unit is made from quality plastic or stainless steel and can be washed by hand or in a dish washer.
