Product Information

Meet Nikon s sophisticated, enthusiast-oriented Nikon 1 V2, featuring a new 14MP sensor, a built-in flash, a newly-developed shutter unit, a generous-sized grip and a high-resolution electronic viewfinder. This, combined with the first-generation Nikon 1 V1 s lightning-fast autofocus speed, shows that Nikon is bringing its MILC system to a new level. Let s take a closer look at the Nikon 1 V2. Nikon claims up to 15fps burst rates with continuous autofocus and up to 60fps with fixed-point autofocus. Hybrid AF combines phase-detection for high-speed movement and contrast-detection AF for low-light photography; the sensor instantly switches between 73 phase detection focus areas an 135 contrast-detect areas. • Nikon 1 V2

The Nikon 1 V2 is the second version in the Nikon 1 line up geared for advanced enthusiasts. It is a mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera that was discontinued around 2018. It is small and light making it an attractive take along anywhere camera. The fast and accurate auto focus and high frame rate were class leaders when it was introduced. It produces great photos in good light but the image quality suffers in low light and ISO's over 800. A great travel or snapshot camera.

  • V2 is a decent camera

Although the sensor is small, the camera overall performs well, definitely an improvement over the preceding V1; more features and feels better in the hand. Works well with the motorized 10-100 zoom, although the combo is reasonably bulky.

  • Good images, nice user interface, and great value in the Nikon 1 Interchangeable Lens Mirrorless system

Like every other camera in the Nikon 1 system this camera can deliver excellent images, especially for those who shoot in raw format and have a modern noise reduction processing application. I like the V2 almost as much as I do the V3 that replaced it. This is very comfortable camera to hold with a perfect built in grip, and the external controls make it more user friendly than the V1 it replaced.

  • The V-2 is probably the best Nikon 1 Camera

The V-2 model is probably the best of the Nikon 1 series, the J-5 would be a close second. I have many of the Nikon 1 cameras and actually use them. Well built, the early ergonomics needed some work and I think the V-2 resolved that. The Nikon 'kit' lenses usually supplied with these cameras are quite adequate for most users. Additionally, the auto-focus and metering work quickly and accurately. Concerning value, many people, myself included, think the Nikon 1 system was somewhat over-priced. That said, I have been using the Nikon 1 cameras since their introduction and I'm still using them. The system has been discontinued since 2018 and is only marginally supported by Nikon at this point.

  • Smallest and Lightest and takes Great Photos !

I think Nikon made a mistake in discontinuing the Nikon 1 line of Cameras and Lenses with the one inch sensor. It is the smallest and lightest mirrorless interchangeable lens system of all the Mirrorless DSLR Cameras. My Nikon 1 V2 Camera and two lenses the 10-100 lens which covers 27mm to 270mm and the 70-300 lens which covers 189mm to 810mm weighs practically nothing and practically fits in the palm of my hand. While Cell Phones are getting better and better, the Nikon 1 System of Cameras and Lenses is quite a bit Smaller and Lighter than Full Frame, Crop Sensor or even Micro Four Thirds...

  • Excellent camera for traveling

Camera is compact, lightweight and has a super fast focus. Excellent picture quality. Viewfinder is a must have. I use the camera with a 10-100mm lens.

  • Cool concept but bad execution

The camera has way to much noise for the price. You can easily spend the same amount of money and get yourself a Sony a5000 and get around the same size and better quality. I say that it isn't worth the money and that there are better options for compact cameras.

  • Great Little Camera

I have two V2 bodies and a pretty good collection of lenses: 6.7-13, 10-30 (regular, not PD), 10-100, 32, and 70-300. I've had Nikons going back to the 1960's and these V2's probably take me up to having had around 20 of their cameras. Definitely, these are the best photography tools I have ever owned. The 32mm f1.2 lens completely changes one's notion of what can be done in low available light. I had a couple of film Nikons with the old 55mm f1.2 and there is simply no comparison. Essentially with the 32, if you can see it, you can capture it. I've also done a fair amount of video work with the v2 using several of the lenses both with and without the auxiliary microphone. I have the AC power adapter for this work as well. The only negative is that the camera very slowly loses its heat dissipation battle, so the internal software limits a video shoot to 20 minutes. If you restart it again immediately, it will run another 18 or so minutes, depending the ambient air temperature. It takes about 15 minutes to completely cool down. Now, in most video situations you will never notice these limits. But, if you want to do something like capture an all day seminar, get a full sized DSLR. The little mirrorless cameras just can't go there. The 70-300mm lens is every bit as surprising and pleasant to use as the 32. This is equivalent to a 189-810mm DSLR lens, in a small fraction of the cost and weight. 810mm in an easily handheld camera is something you just can't get in a big camera system. Think of it this way. If you are out walking and hear a bird in a tree, which you spot, with this lens you can get a shot of it that fills the frame. And, it is small and light enough that there is a good chance that you will actually have the lens with you, whereas if you had a full size DSLR with and 800, you would be lugging a monster, which means you wouldn't have it with you nearly as often. So, like the 32, the 70-300 provides a transformative photographic experience. I personally like the layout of the v2 body better than the newer v3, but that is a bit of a nit. The black v2's are getting harder to find in pristine condition, although there seems to be a fairly steady supply of white ones that have seen virtually no use. When I wear these two bodies out I'll probably switch to the v3 or whatever the current model is at that time. Two things that are nice about the v3 are the tilting back display and the improved sensor, although the shots I'm getting with the v2 sensor are really all that I need them to be.
